Black Country Bugle

The Black Country Bugle is a nostalgic newspaper, set up by Derek Beasley, former chairman of Halesowen Harriers, which serves the Black Country region of England and has been in circulation since April 1972. The paper is published weekly by Staffordshire Newspapers.[1] The paper has an office located at Bugle House, 41 High Street, Cradley Heath.

Although the paper concentrates on the Black Country of former years, focusing on the local history and culture of the Black Country, a certain amount of up-to-date local news is included. Amongst other things, the paper features photographs sent in by the public, curious objects brought into the Bugle office, short stories, anecdotes of olden days, historical essays, and letters from people researching their family tree. It often features articles and poems written in the Black Country dialect.

Format and Appearance

The paper is printed in a tabloid format, mostly in black and white but with a small amount of red. However, some adverts are reproduced in full colour.
